Wanda Jackson

There are great singers and there are great entertainers: WANDA is both and her shows are energy packed. Wanda Jackson was only halfway through high school when, in 1954, country singer Hank Thompson heard her on an Oklahoma City radio show and asked her to record with his band, the Brazos Valley Boys. By the end of the decade, Jackson had become one of America's first major female country and rockabilly singers.

WANDA has been nominated for the GRAMMY AWARD twice as the best performing female singer. She has been inducted into THE OKLAHOMA COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME, THE ROCKABILLY HALL OF FAME, THE INTERNATIONAL HALL OF FAME, THE INTERNATIONAL GOSPEL MUSIC HALL OF FAME THE OKLAHOMA MUSIC HALL OF FAME and most recently the GERMAN COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME. She has been awarded THE OKLAHOMA NATIVE DAUGHTER AWARD. Wanda was on the final ballot for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and will give it another run in 2005.

In 2009, it was announced that Wanda would be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, and Bruce Springsteen were just a few artists who encouraged the Hall to induct the Rock N Roll Queen over the last few years.
